Kyiv - Redeemer Church Plant
Redeemer Church plant meeting October 2023

About

Redeemer is a church-planting work that began the summer right before COVID hit. While it never reached a critical mass to begin services, it did collect a faithful group of believers for fellowship, prayer, and Bible Study each week.

When the full-scale war began, many of our faithful fled to other countries. In order to encourage one another, the group continues to meet on-line via zoom and in a hybrid in-person/online format when the Rev. Alister Torrens is in the country (around 20 Sundays throughout the year). Men who are eligible for the draft try not to be out on the streets much, and so the online gathering remains an important part of fellowship, even when an in-person option is available. Our members who fled the country also appreciate being able to worship in their native language.

Pray for

  • The continued difficulty of electricity outages and water and heating outages- some sections of the city where our members live will not have their heat restored
  • The internet and electricity to work during our online meetings
  • The spirits of our gathering to be encouraged in the Hope of Christ
  • The provision of our daily bread, as many are without work
  • The fellowship of our members who are refugees in strange lands and continuing to face struggles with culture and documents, and the trials of being away from family.
  • The safety of friends and family who are serving

Praise for

  • A member had a difficult run-in with the Draft Service and could not locate his work exception. Praise God, they let him leave and eventually located his exception.
  • We are all glad of the sun and warmer weather
  • Glad for being able to meet in person during Alister’s March visit
