February 24, 2026- Remembering
Dear all,
I am in Kyiv today: the day we commemorate the full-scale invasion of Ukraine – and the long, dark four years since. It is a privilege to be an encouragement to the church while I am here.Four years ago, the world watched in disbelief as Ukraine came under attack. Four years later, Ukraine is still standing — and so is the church.Aside from the four years of accumulated destruction, fear, and loss, this winter has been especially hard because of record cold and a record number of attacks – many of which have destroyed infrastructure – including heat. Each of our Ukrainian churches continues to meet – but many of them don’t remove their winter hats, coats, and gloves during the service because there’s no heat or light in the building. But each church meets, worships, and recognizes the hope in Christ they cling to.Four years is a long time to sustain attention in anything, so we’re especially grateful to you who continue to pray, remember, and give to the church in Ukraine. Please pray specifically for these needs:* A just, and miraculous peace that allows Ukrainians to live in a free country with their own language, culture, traditions, and freedom to worship.* That our churches will be protected and enabled to serve and grow, many are undertaking projects that make their churches points of healing (a trauma center), points of protection (creating a bomb shelter), and points of restoration (warm places with charging, heat, and fellowship).* For our pastors and laypeople to be strengthened in Christ and equipped to share the hope of the Gospel even in the everyday drain of life under fire.Thank you for standing with our churches and Ukraine. In Christ,Jon Eide
