The Ukraine church has been depleted of men who are currently serving in the military. This has resulted in churches with few or no elders and reduced capacities across the entire denomination. The people are exhausted yet determined. They are in need of support in this darkest of times.

The western part of Ukraine, which shelters most of those displaced, is in need of new teams to expand the church’s permanent presence and create centers of stability and hope across the Carpathians. Potential cities include Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Uzhgorod. These cities, like Lviv, enjoy relative safety from the main physical impacts of the war.

Team Ukraine would like to respond to this denominational need by seeking to start two new teams in western Ukraine. We pray that two new team leaders and team members will be raised up to form a gospel-centered church-planting team providing stability and consistency in a time of instability and despair. The process for training and onboarding is available for those seeking to answer the call.

We are seeking Gospel centered individuals who will serve faithfully and can demonstrate and clearly articulate the Gospel within the Ukrainian context.

The Four-Phase Recruitment Pathway

Team Ukraine uses a step-by-step process designed to provide clarity,

testing, and development before long-term placement.

PHASE 1:

Information & Personal Invitation
Learn and Be Invited

This phase centers on a clear and personal call to consider service in Ukraine. Recruitment is relational and intentional rather than purely informational.

KEY COMPONENTS: A clear recruiting script explaining Ukraine’s context and needs. A personal challenge to pray and consider serving. Clear next steps for action.

PHASE 2:

Service & Pulse/Connect
Experience Ukraine

A two-week trip designed to give participants firsthand exposure to: Church and ministry in wartime Ukraine, MTW church planting philosophy, denominational and cultural context/realities, and legacy and potential team sites.

A SUCCESSFUL TRIP: Can clearly explain Ukraine’s church-planting needs. Understand ministry challenges. Recognize the need for further training. Discern whether long-term service is appropriate.

PHASE 3:

Ukraine Missionary Training Internship
Grow & Prepare

This is for participants who have completed a service trip and are invited forward. It includes a 4–6 week intensive internship covering culture and language, gospel-centered ministry, and cross-cultural evangelism. Participants will also engage with church planting dynamics, local POM involvement, and ministry event execution. Each intern develops a personal ministry development plan.

PHASE 4:

Deployment to the Field
Go & Serve Long-Term

The final phase includes guidance through the MTW application process and placement on a legacy or new team. Participants become a part of / begin integrating with Team Ukraine and receive support-raising assistance throughout the process

This process is designed to be prayerful, wise, and thorough—seeking not merely to fill positions, but to send prepared workers who will serve with humility and endurance.

Pray. Consider. Go.
