Odesa - Covenant of Grace

About

Odesa’s second church plant, Covenant of Grace started as a mission church in the northern part of the city in 2007. Beginning with a core group of 11 adults and 4 children, there are now around 50 members, though 12 of them are currently refugees outside of Ukraine, and two men are in the Army.

Besides the usual church services and ministries, we are devoted to supporting our military guys – friends, neighbors, relatives of our church members – and sharing the Gospel with them. With this 4th winter, russia is hitting the power grid especially hard to try to break our spirit by leaving homes without electricity, water, and heat. The war puts eternity in perspective, and we strive to give people an eternal hope in salvation through Christ alone.

Pray for

The growth of the church in Ukraine and abroad. At the start of the war, many from our church evacuated to Romania and are living there and meeting every sunday for worship. We have been praying and exploring the possibility of a Romanian Church Plant. Please pray for wisdom and direction.
Housing – rental rates are increasing because more displaced Ukrainians are moving to Odesa, while simultaneously, apartments in Odesa are being destroyed by missiles. This continues to affect Arthur and his family, who have not yet found a place to live, though their current landlord has given them until the new year.
The urgent completion of the church Bomb shelter – this project is moving frustratingly slowly! We suffer greatly from a lack of workers. Please pray that God will open the way for it to be completed.
Our winter preparations. Winter is predicted to be very fierce, and attacks are already damaging vital infrastructure – we work to gather supplies and prepare as we can for the predicted gas, power, and water shortages. Due to rising costs of fuel, even our generators will be difficult to run.
Our winter care outreach to soldiers. We have been preparing gifts and care packages for the soldiers. We currently have about 120 gifts and hope to encourage them and demonstrate how much we appreciate their sacrifice. Pray that the Holy Spirit will use these gifts to share his truth, strength, and peace with them.
Safety- Odesa is under very violent and frequent attacks.
